FAQ: Buying a Hyperbaric Chamber

Answers to the most common questions about hyperbaric oxygen therapy and purchasing a chamber.

What is HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy)?

HBOT stands for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. You breathe concentrated oxygen at higher than normal atmospheric pressure (measured in ATA). This increases the amount of oxygen in your blood plasma, which supports healing, recovery, and cellular regeneration. Our chambers operate at 1.5 ATA and are tested up to 2.5 ATA.

Is HBOT safe?

Yes. Mild HBOT at 1.5 ATA is considered safe for most people. Oxyhelp chambers are CE-marked and manufactured in the EU according to medical device standards. As with all treatments, individual health conditions should be discussed with a healthcare professional. Contraindications include untreated pneumothorax and certain ear conditions.

What is the difference between monoplace and multiplace chambers?

Monoplace chambers (I80, I90) are designed for one person at a time. They are compact, require less space, and are ideal for clinics, wellness centers, and home use. Multiplace chambers (C1-C4) accommodate 1 to 5 persons simultaneously, making them better for high-volume clinics, hospitals, and sports facilities. See our full comparison.

What are the electrical requirements?

Monoplace chambers (I80, I90): 230V, max 2 kWh, 16A fuse, 3×2.5 mm² cable. Energy class A+++ for residential use (1 session/day) and A++ for commercial use (3 sessions/day). No special installation is needed beyond a standard 230V outlet with the correct fuse rating. Multiplace models have higher electrical requirements; contact us for details.

How much space do I need?

For the smallest monoplace (I80): approximately 2.5 x 1.5 meters including access space. For the I90: approximately 2.5 x 1.7 meters. Multiplace chambers require more space, ranging from 3 x 2 meters (C1) to 7 x 3 meters (C4). We recommend a ventilated room with stable temperature. See detailed dimensions.

What does the purchase include?

When you buy through Nordic Welltech you get: the chamber itself, delivery to your location in Scandinavia, professional installation and setup, staff training, warranty, and ongoing service support. We also assist with regulatory questions regarding CE marking and EU requirements.

How long is a typical HBOT session?

A standard session lasts 60 minutes at operating pressure, plus approximately 10 minutes for pressurization and 5 minutes for depressurization. This means approximately 75 minutes per session in total. Most protocols recommend 20-40 sessions for optimal results.

Is HBOT profitable as a business?

Yes. With average treatment prices of 60-120 EUR and low operating costs (energy class A+++, max 2 kWh), most chambers pay for themselves within 6-18 months depending on occupancy. Use our ROI calculator to estimate your specific profitability.
